Toyota Fortuner

The 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been unveiled in Thailand. The India launch is expected next year with the SUV will be showcased at the Auto Expo .

The new Toyota Fortuner is based partly on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) but will still be a ladder on frame SUV. It looks more sleeker than the current version and has the design language of Toyota’s internationally sold SUVs. There is a prominent twin slat grille with chrome bits. It features all new wrap around headlamps with projectors. The front bumper is aggressive and it houses vertical LED daytime running lights and round fog lamps. The side bears similarities to the bigger Land Cruiser, while the rear gets all new slim tail lamps with a chrome strip running between them bearing the Fortuner moniker. It gets a rear spoiler too.

The new Fortuner gets an all new interior. There is a three spoke sporty looking steering wheel and a fresh looking dashboard. Silver and wood inserts add a nice touch. The driver’s seat comes with 8 way electric adjust. There is a 7 inch TFT colour screen for the infotainment system. which has navigation, DVD player, USB, AUX, Ipod and Bluetooth Connectivity. Other features include automatic climate control, push button start, cooled glove box and follow me home lights.

Power comes from a new 2.8 litre direct injection turbo diesel engine that puts out 175 bhp and 450 Nm of torque. The engines comes mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission. Gears can also be shifted via paddles in the automatic variant.

Safety features include 7 airbags, traction control, vehicle stability control, Hill Start Assist, brake assist and EBD.
