2017 Skoda Octavia Engines and Performance

Mechanically, there are no changes and the facelift Octavia retains the engines from the outgoing car. On offer is a 1.4 litre TSI petrol that puts out 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, a 1.8 litre TSI petrol with 180 horses on tap and 250 Nm and the 2.0 TDI diesel churning out 143 horses and 320 Nm of max torque. The 1.4 petrol gets only a 6 speed manual gearbox and the 1.8 gets a 7 speed DSG auto box. The diesel has a choice of either a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed DSG. We drove both the 1.8 TSI petrol and the 2.0 TDI diesel. While our personal pick would be the former for its explosive performance, the diesel is a great combination of power and efficiency. There is lag in the initial revs but once you are past that, the oil burner is pretty quick. In the DSG, you can also shift manually using the paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

Safety features include 8 airbags on the top end model, ABS with EBD and HBA, Electronic Differential Lock, Multi Collsion Braking, Electronic Stability Control and iBuzz Fatigue Alert.
