The 2017 Volkswagen Passat will launch in India on October 10, 2017. Volkswagen had recently announced commencement of production of the car at the Aurangabad facility.This is the eighth generation of the sedan.

The new Passat is based on the MQB platform that also underpins cars like the Skoda Octavia, Kodiaq, Superb and VW’s own Tiguan. The new car is 13 mm less in length at 4,767 mm, 1 2mm wider at 1,832 mm and 13 mm shorter at 1,456mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm that is 80 mm longer than the older car.

The new Passat will be powered by a 2.0 TDI diesel engine that develops 177 horsepower and will come mated to a 6 speed DSG automatic gearbox.

The 2017 Volkswagen Passat will rival the Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord in India.
