Ford has taken the wraps off the Freestyle cross hatch in India. The new model is based on the Figo hatchback and will go on sale in April this year.

On the exterior, the Freestyle gets aggressively styled bumpers, new front grille, muscular bonnet, skid plates, new alloy wheels and blackened headlamps. It also gets higher ground clearance than the regular Figo.

On the interior, it features a new 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Ford Sync 3. Safety features include TCS, ABS with EBD and up to six airbags.

The Ford Freestyle will be powered by an all new 1.2 litre 3 cylinder Dragon engine that develops 96 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a new five speed manual gearbox by Getrag. Ford will also offer the 100 horsepower 1.5 litre diesel engine and automatic transmission will also be available as an option.

The Ford Freestyle will rival the Hyundai i20 Active and the Toyota Etios Cross.
