2018 Jaguar F-Pace Diesel Engine and Handling

The F-Pace is powered by a the 2.0 litre Ingenium diesel engine that produces 180 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. The 300 horsepower V6 diesel is no longer available and that’s pretty disappointing. The Ingenium motor feels adequate to pull this SUV along and has good mid-range once you cross the 2000 rpm mark. However, it doesn’t hold a candle to the fabulous V6 motor. Refinement levels aren’t the best when you reach the higher end of the rev band and the engine starts to get very vocal. Transmission duties are handled by an eight speed automatic gearbox. Shifts are pretty smooth though you do feel a slight lag during kickdowns.

The sporty character of the F-Pace shines through when it comes to handling. This SUV tackles corners with aplomb. The steering has fantastic weight and grip from the tyres is great too. The ride quality is nice as well. While the stiff suspension setup makes things a bit bumpy at low speeds, all road undulations are made short of once you build up speed. Braking power is right up to the mark.

2018 Jaguar F-Pace Diesel Verdict

The locally assembled Jaguar F-Pace is now priced at a shade above Rs. 63 lakh. For that price, you get an SUV that is fun to drive and nice to be chauffeured around at the same time. Not only that, there’s a ton of features and standard equipment too. And then there are the looks and the street presence as well. At this new price, the F-Pace is a great, feature rich package that offers value and a certain exclusivity as well. We are still sad about the demise of the V6 though.
