The 2018 Mercedes S-Class facelift has been launched in India. The S350d is priced at Rs. 1.33 crore an the S450 petrol is priced at Rs. 1.37 crore ex showroom.

The S350d features an all new 3.0 inline six diesel engine. The OM 656 is the first BS VI compliant engine and is capable of running on BS IV fuel as well. The motor develops 286 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 9 speed G Tronic automatic gearbox.

The S450 comes with a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine putting out 367 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Again it comes with a 9 speed G Tronic automatic gearbox.

On the exterior, the S-Class gets new Multibeam LED headlamps, reworked front and rear bumpers, a new front grille with three horizontal slats and vertical bars finished in gloss black. The LED headlamps feature a crystal look and there;s a Coming Home feature too.

On the inside the updated S-Class features a 12.3 inch horizontal touch screen, new leather and wood trim, three spoke steering wheel, 64 colour ambient lighting, a large panoramic sunroof, wireless charging function in the rear and front central arm rest, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and a 13 speaker Burmester sound system.

The new S-Class now gets radar based safety systems that include Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Braking Assist, Blind Spot Assist.

Mercedes offers Star EASE packages starting at Rs. 80,000 for the S450 that makes cost of ownership lower than the outgoing model.

Mercedes-Benz India has sold more than 6,700 units of the S-Class in India since launch 18 years ago.
