2018 Range Rover Sport Interior
The Range Rover Sport gets the ‘Auto Access Height’ feature that lowers the ride height by 50 mm automatically allowing for easy ingress and egress. Once inside, you find yourself in typical Range Rover territory with top notch quality materials used in the cabin. We loved the power window button finished in brushed silver and the door handles wonderfully integrated into the door pads. There are touch sensitive surfaces for the ORVMs and for the steering controls as well. When you phone rings, the controls on the steering light up for you use, a nice touch that. The digital instrument cluster is crisp and has high resolution graphics. This HSE trim comes with a 825 W Meridian Surround Sound System with 19 speakers as standard or you can also choose the 1700 W Meridian Signature Surround System with 23 speakers that’s available as an option.
The biggest highlight of the cabin is the InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system that was first seen in the Velar. It now makes its way to the Sport and the bigger Range Rover. The two 10 inch touch screens feature superb graphics, you actually feel you are watching HD and response is quick too when you compare it to the outgoing system. The upper screen can be tilted electronically and has the audio, navigation, phone apps etc. The lower screen takes care of climate control, seat heating and drive modes. There are two physical rotary knobs as well so that you don’t have to take your eyes off the road for using basic functions. A big omission is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, something that is expected at this price point.
The front seats are like thrones and give you a commanding view of the road ahead. Cushioning is first rate and the seats get memory function as well. The rear seats two in comfort. There are climate control rotary knobs for the rear passengers as well. The centre passenger back rest drops down as a central arm rest. Another party trick is the gesture control to open and close the sun blind of the panoramic sunroof.
