2018 Range Rover Sport Engine and Performance

The 2018 Range Rover Sport comes with quite a choice of engines. There are V6 and V8 supercharged motors, a diesel V8 and the one that’s under the hood of our test car, the 3.0 V6 diesel in TDV6 trim. This engine churns out 258 horsepower with max torque 600 Nm of torque. Land Rover claims a 0 to 100 timing of 7.7 seconds. The engine has fantastic refinement and sounds even better at higher rpms. Literally a very sporty note. Transmission duties are handled by an eight speed autobox. And its interesting that the Sport now gets a proper gear stick and not a rotary knob that we are used to seeing Land Rover models. Shifts are smooth but the gearbox does tend to get confused when you request a downshift, taking a moment before it gets going. The Sport accelerates in a very linear fashion and there is enough power on tap when you need it. Cruising is also effortless and you will surely enjoy it on the open highway.
