2018 Range Rover Sport Handling, Off-Road and Safety

The Range Rover Sport comes with air suspension and while it has a firmer set up, it feels compliant even with those 21 inch wheels. Body roll is well controlled for an SUV that weighs 2.1 tonnes. Other tech includes torque vectoring by braking and an electronic differential as well. And the Sport doesn’t get the Dynamic drive mode. That’s reserved for the big V8s. The Sport also feels planted at high speeds with the car lowering itself by 15 mm once it crosses 105 kph.

When it comes to off-roading, there’s very few luxury SUVs that can boast of a Range Rover’s capabilities and this Sport is no different. The Terrain Response 2 comes with three proper off-road modes. Each mode alters the engine, gearbox and chassis. The Terrain Response 2 automatically detects the terrain and activates the suitable mode. For eg: during our drive we left the tarmac and got into muddy terrain, the Mud Ruts mode got activated automatically. Hill Descent Control works well and the All Terrain Progress Control works between 1.8 kph and 30 kph letting you concentrate only on the steering.

The Range Rover Sport score high on safety and comes with multiple airbags, Emergency Brake Assist, ABS and EBD etc. It also gets radar based safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and collision warning.
