Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off the new G63. The new AMG will make its global debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

The new G63 lets go of the 5.5 litre V8 motor and now gets the widely used 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 that now develops 577 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. This makes the G63 go from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.4 seconds and a limited top speed of 220kph. Get the AMG Driver’s package and the limiter is lifted to 240 kph. The engine comes mated to a nine speed automatic gearbox and the G63 now also features cylinder deactivation where 4 cylinders are shut off when not needed. The newest AMG SUV features a new AMG Performance 4Matic all wheel drive system that has a rear biased torque split of 40:60. It gets electronic adaptive dampers as standard. Three locking differentials still remain along with the low range option. It also features three off-road modes: Sand, Trail and Rock.

The body shell is lighter than before and 55 percent more rigid than the predecessor. The doors get protective cladding that will prevent water from entering the cabin.

On the exterior, the G63 gets a vertical slat AMG grille, AMG bumpers with bull bar, LED headlamps, perforated brake discs with red calipers and 22 inch alloy wheels. A Night package is also on offer.

The new G63 will go on sale in March after the Geneva Motor Show. We hope to see it reach Indian shores soon and by the way Mercedes is going, we dont think the wait will be too long.
