2019 Nissan Kicks Engine and Performance

The Nissan Kicks comes with two engine options in India. One is the 1.5 litre H4K petrol engine and the other is the popular K9K 1.5 litre diesel motor that is seen in other Nissan-Renault models in India. We drove the diesel on this drive that makes 110 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. There is minimal turbo lag but that isn’t noticeable easily. The engine opens up after 2000 rpm and there is fantastic mid range. Performance starts to taper after 4000 rpm and that’s when the motor starts to sound boomy and strained. Drivability is good and the engine feels rev happy.  It doesn’t feel jerky at all even at low speeds. The six speed manual gearbox feels nice to use. Gears slot in nicely and the clutch is pretty light too. However, Nissan is not offering an automatic at launch. The petrol engine Kicks will come with a 5 speed manual gearbox. The Kicks also comes with an ECO mode that dulls performance but will increase fuel efficiency.
