i8spy2BMW is getting ready to make the i8 Spyder a reality. The concept was first shown in 2012 at the Beijng Motor Show. BMW CEO Harald Krueger told the German newspaper Handelsblatt that a production version of the i8 Concept Spyder will make its debut in the near future.

The i8 Spyder in concept form came featured with removable top panels and a redesigned B-pillar and rear cowl, but retained the butterfly doors. Mechanically the car is expected to be similar to the coupe but could get a larger battery. The i8 coupe is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-three cylinder petrol engine combined with two electric motors and a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. Total power output is 357 horsepower and it goes from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.4 seconds.i8spy3
