The new BMW X4 has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs. 60.6 lakh ex showroom. The X4 will be locally assembled at the BMW plant in Chennai. The X4 will be available in the M Sport X trim across all variants.

The BMW X4 follows the design trend started by the X6 years ago with Sport Activity Coupe design. On the exterior, the X4 features the BMW signature kidney grille and large air intakes. It gets fully adaptive LED headlamps and LED fog lamps. The sloping coupe style roof line ends with wrap around LED tail lamps with 3D styling. The air intakes, side skirts, wheel arch trim and rear apron with diffuser insert are in Frozen Grey. It features 19 inch M alloy wheels along with blue M Sport brake callipers.

On the interior, the X4 comes with a multifunction M leather steering wheel, sport seats at the front with multiple electric adjust and rear seats with 40:20:40 adjust. Features include Gesture Control, Wireless Charing for smartphones, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting in six colours, Heads Up display and Welcome Light Carpet projected from the door sill.

The X$ gets a 10.25 inch touch screen for the iDrive infotainment system that comes with wireless Apple CarPlay. It also gets a 600 Watt Harman Kardon sound system with Bluetooth and USB.

The BMW X4 will come with three engine options for India. These include a 3.0 litre 6 cylinder diesel engine producing 265 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque, and goes from 0 to 100 kph in 6 seconds, a 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel engine putting out 190 horses and 400 Nm of torque going from 0 to 100 kph in 8 seconds. There is also a petrol engine in the model lineup, a 2.0 litre four cylinder engine putting out 252 horsepower and 350 Nm going from 0 to 100 kph in 6.3 seconds.

All engines are mated to an 8 speed automatic gearbox and the X4 features the intelligent all wheel drive system. The system distributes the engine’s power between the front and rear axle exactly to suit the driving situation and the surface.  It also comes with Electronically controlled ‘Automatic Differential Brakes/Locks (ADB-X)’, extended ‘Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)’, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control. Adaptive suspension is standard as well.

Safety features include six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting.

The BMW X$ will rival the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe in the Indian market.
