BMW has launched the X5 M and X6 M in India at a price of Rs. 1.55 crore and Rs. 1.6 crore. Both will be sold as imported CBUs.

The X5 M and X6 M get aggressive styling with new sport bumpers and larger air intakes, double slat kidney grille, flared wheel arches, quad exhausts and 20 inch alloy wheels. On the interior it gets an M leather steering wheel, aluminium paddle shifters, leather-trimmed BMW Individual instrument panel, center console with knee pads, M–specific gear selector lever, driving dynamics buttons and sill finishers and leather upholstery with the M logo on the backrests. Other features include iDrive Touch with handwriting recognition (including a 25.9 cm high-definition colour display), full-colour BMW Head-Up Display with M View, 600 Watt 16 speaker high-end Surround Sound system from Harman Kardon and BMW apps.

Powering the X5 M and X6 M is a 4.4 litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine that pumps out 575 horsepower and 750 Nm torque. The 0 to 100 kph sprint is done in 4.2 seconds and top speed is an electronically limited 250 kph. The engine is mated to an 8 speed Steptronic automatic gearbox.

Safety features include eight airbags, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Active Protection with Alertness Assistant, Side-Impact protection, Electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensors.
