Ford Mustang GT Interior

The retro theme continues into the interior too. And there are some aviation inspired bits as well. Check out the toggle switches on the centre console and the speedometer that reads ‘Ground Speed’. The Start/Stop button is located next to these toggle switches. The three spoke steering is classic Mustang and houses audio and phone controls. The cabin does not have the plushness of a German though and some hard plastics don’t feel all that great. But one must remember that this is meant to an affordable sports car back in its home country. That said, the interiors do have a cool quotient of their own. There are three circular AC vents in the centre and the front passenger side has a trivia plate that reads ‘Mustang: Since 1964’.  The gear lever feels nice to hold and there are two large cup holders as well. The hand brake lever is placed on the passenger and feels ergonomically weird. Its looks like Ford forgot to move it to the other side when making the right hand drive configuration. The foot well is spacious and gets sport pedals along with a large dead pedal. Despite the retro theme, the Mustang comes with a lots of modern day goodies. There is an 8.0 inch touch scree infotainment system, dual zone climate control, rain sensing wipers, 9 speaker sound system with amplifier and heated and cooled seats. One unique feature on the Mustang is the ‘Track Apps’. Through this, you can record lap times, acceleration and braking times etc. The coolest of them all is the ‘Electronic Line Lock’ function. This essentially helps you warm up tyres before a drag race. In our lingo its called the burnout function (big smile on my face). The Mustang also comes with the My Key where you can limit the car’s speed, audio volume etc.

Ford offers leather upholstery on the Mustang. The seats are typical of a sports car. They are comfortable and hold you snug in place. Side bolstering is fantastic. While they can be adjusted electrically in six ways, the back rest needs to adjusted manually. As with most coupes, the rear seats are best suited to kids only. An adult might be able sit there if the driver is short, though only for short city drives. There is 320 litres of standard boot space, that seems adequate. However, the loading aperture is narrow, plus the full size spare with alloy is placed in the boot itself leaving hardly any space to place a bag or two.
