The Jeep Compass was launched in India last year and since then it has been a best seller for the car maker. Now Jeep is getting ready to launch the Compass Trailhawk in India and here is what you can expect from the India spec model.

First up the Trailhawk will feature Jeep’s Active Drive Low-range 4WD with a new ‘Rock mode’ for the Selec-Terrain 4WD system.  It will also come with a panoramic sunroof and cruise control as standard. There will also be all black interiors.

Power will come from the same 2.0 litre diesel engine that does duty in the standard Compass. However, the engine will come mated to a 9 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. This way the Compass now gets the diesel engine auto box combo.

On the exterior, the Trailhawk will be distinguished by redesigned front and rear bumpers, dual tone black and silver exterior paint, new 17 inch alloy wheels, red two recovery hooks, black anti-glare decal on the bonnet and underbody skid plates. Ground clearance is also 20 mm higher than the standard Compass. That way it gets better approach (30 degree) and departure (33.6 degree) angles while  breakover angle is 24.4 degree. Hill Descent Control is also standard.

Jeep dealers are apparently accepting bookings for the Trailhawk for an amount of Rs. 2.5 lakh. The on-road price is expected to be Rs. 32 lakh on road in Mumbai. Once it goes on sale, the Compass Trailhawk will rival the Hyundai Tuscon and the Volkswagen Tiguan.
