Jeep has just started exports of the Made in India Compass to international markets. The first 600 units have been shipped to Australia and Japan. The Compass is built at FCA’s plant in Ranjangaon that produces the Compass for all right hand drive markets of the world.

Jeep began building the Compass for India in June this year followed by the official launch end July. Jeep has now started building the range topping Compass Trailhawk at the Ranjangaon plant. The Trailhawk features a low range 4×4 system along new ‘Rock mode’ for its Selec-Terrain 4WD system.

The Trailhawk comes with a 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel engine mated to a nine speed automatic gearbox. Ground clearance is also 20 mm more than the standard Compass. This gives the Trailhawk better approach and departure angles. Other features include hill descent control, different alloy wheels, dual tone shades, red recovery hooks, black painted anti-glare bonnet decal, under body skid plates and all weather floor mats.

The Compass Trailhawk is currently being built for the export market only. There is no info if it will be launched in India anytime soon. However, the standard Jeep Compass diesel automatic could be launched in India in the coming months.
