Lexus LX450d Interior

You literally have to climb inside the LX. For assistance, you get a side step as well as grab handles on the A-Pillar. The SUV can also be lowered every time you switch it off that makes access much easier. The cabin speaks SPACE the moment you get in. The large dashboard features high grade leather and wood. The wide centre console houses an array of buttons for the climate control, audio and other functions. The piano black finish on the centre console feels plush. A large screen for the infotainment system finds place on top in the center. The screen is controlled by a joystick style controller that sits next to the short gear stick. The leather pad below the controller feels classy and well finished. It is however surprising that the LX does not get a touchscreen for the price that it commands. There is no navigation either. The lower area of the gear console has another bunch of buttons and knobs which are for the driving models, suspension, seat ventilation, crawl control and off-road controls.

The multi-function steering wheel is finished in leather and wood and feels nice to hold. It gets paddle shifters and is electrically adjustable. The park assist buttons are hidden behind the steering and are not easily noticeable. There are also some typical Toyota elements that you can’t ignore like that stalk for the cruise control on the bottom right of the steering wheel. There are some other plastic bits in the cabin that feel out of place in a car that sets you back over 2 crore big ones. The large central armrest opens to reveal a refrigerated cool box.  The LX450d gets a standard sunroof and that too with a manual sunshade. For the price it commands, it should have got a panoramic roof to say the least. While the interior overall feels plush, it lacks a level of finesse that is seen in the Europeans.

Other highlights include four zone climate control that Lexus calls Climate Concierge. The AC cools the large cabin effortlessly and there are vents mounted on the roof at the sides as well. There’s a Mark Levinson surround sound system with 19 speakers that is awesome.

The front seats are XXL and feel like a king’s throne. They are super comfy, have excellent under thigh support and side bolstering.  They get electric adjust and memory function as well. Also the driver’s seat automatically moves back when you switch off the car. The rear seat is wide and can seat three abreast without any discomfort. However, the bench is placed low and that compromises on under thigh support. The back rest is adjustable as are the rear seat belts. The rear central armrest houses controls for the climate control and seat ventilation. Rear occupants get two 11.6 inch screens for in car entertainment but they are not touch operated but via a remote. There are sun blinds for the rear windows which are manually operated.

As mentioned before, the LX450d gets a split tail gate. The top hatch can be opened or closed electrically via a button, while the bottom hatch is operated manually. The boot is huge and can be used to move a house and then some. It can also be converted to a make shift picnic spot. The SUV gets a full size spare with alloy that is mounted on the under side of the body.
