FCA India has announced that it has begun exports of the Made in India Jeep Compass to International markets. The first 600 units have been shipped from Bombay Port Trust to Australia and Japan.

The Jeep Compass is produced at Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune in Maharashtra. FCA has invested USD 280 million in this facility for the production of the Compass. The India plant is also the only one in the world to produce the Compass in right hand drive.In India, the Jeep Compass comes with two engine options. The first is a 2.0 litre Multijet diesel motor developing 170 horsepower and 350 Nm torque. The other engine is a 1.4 litre MultiAir petrol unit developing 160 horses and 250 Nm torque.

The Jeep Compass gets over 50 safety features. These include six airbags including dual stage passenger airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Steering Torque (DST), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Adaptive Brake Lights and Panic Brake Assist.

The Compass comes with a 3 year / 100,000 kms manufacturer warranty and a service cycle of 15,000 kms / 1 year.
