Mahindra has unveiled the new SsangYong Rexton G4 at the Auto Expo 2018. The SUV has been rebadged as a Mahindra and will launch in India with a new name. There is new doing the rounds the it might be called the XUV700.

The Rexton G4 is a full size 7 seater SUV and will sit at the top of Mahindra’s model lineup. The front features a Mahindra grille with six thick vertical chrome slats. The front bumper features an upper air damn with hexagonal mesh and a lower one below the number plate with horizontal slats. It gets large projector headlamps with marge with a chrome strip above the grille.  From the side, one can see flared wheel arches. The Rexton features 18 inch five spoke alloy wheels. The window frame is finished in chrome and silver roof rails are mounted on top. Also notice the thick D pillar and the black cladding at the bottom and on the wheel arches.

The rear features large wrap around tail lamps with a chrome strip running between them. The rear windshield is raked and there is a roof spoiler as well. The rear bumper features a chrome element, parking sensors and cladding.

The interior is notches above the previous gen Rexton. There is a two tone dashboard that consists of brown leather and black plastic. There is a faux would panel on the passenger side. The three spoke steering gets gloss black trims and controls for audio, telephone and cruise control. There is faux would on the centre console around the gear lever and on the automatic gear selector knob as well. There is a touch screen for the infotainment system and button for the climate control below that. The front seats feel reasonably comfortable and get electric adjust. The rear seats can be reclined for comfort and they split in a 60:40 ratio as well. Rear occupants get separate AC vents and a 12V power socket. The third row seems best for kids and they get their own AC vents and blower controls. The new Rexton G4 is powered by a 2.2 litre diesel engine that develops 178 horsepower and 420 Nm or maximum torque. It comes and a four wheel drive system as standard and transmission duties are hand by a Mercedes sourced 7 speed automatic gearbox.

Mahindra will launch the new Rexton later this year and will rival the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
