The Mahindra XUV500 petrol is is set to launch soon. We had earlier reported of test mules seen in Dubai some time ago.

Mahindra XUV500 petrol engine

The XUV500 petrol will features a 2.2 litre petrol engine that will develop 140 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. The motor is based on the same block that is the foundation for the company’s 2.2 litre mHawk diesel. The petrol model will feature the ‘G’ nomenclature and it is said that single G9 variant will be launched initially. The petrol engine will be mated to a six speed automatic gearbox only while manual may come later.

Mahindra XUV500 petrol features

Features will include a touch screen infotainment system but no leather seats. It may lose out on alloy wheels too. Safety wise it is expected to come with two airbags only.

The XUV500 petrol will go head on against the Jeep Compass petrol in India.
