Maruti has launched its premium crossover, the S-Cross at a starting price of Rs. 8.34 lakhs ex showroom Delhi. It is available with a choice of two diesel engines and four trim levels. The S-Cross will be sold through Maruti’s Nexa  premium dealerships.

The body of the S-Cross is built on Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Concept. Exterior wise it gets body cladding, skid plates and roof rails. The four trim levels are Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The top end variant gets features like projector headlamps, climate control, SmartPlay touch screen infotainment system, rear parking sensors with camera, rain sensing wipers. Safety wise the S-Cross gets all wheel disc brakes with ABS, Front seat pre-tensioner and force limiter. Dual air bags are standard across all variants.

 

The S-Cross DDIS 320 comes with a 1.6 litre diesel engine that develops 118 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. It is mated to a six speed manual gearbox. The DDIS 200 is powered by a 1.3 litre diesel engine that develops 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. It is mated to a five speed manual gearbox. Maruti is not offering an automatic gearbox on the S-Cross.

The S- Cross is available in five exterior colours; Pear Arctic White, Urban Blue, Caffeine Brown, Premium Silver and Granite Grey. It will rival the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the Hyundai Creta.
