The Mercedes-AMG GT R has broken the lap record at the Buddh International Circuit by posting a lap time of 2.09.853. This makes it the fastest production car to have lapped the Formula 1 track at Greater Noida.

The car was driven by AMG Driver, Christian Hohenadel and was supervised by FMSCI. The previous record of 2.14.521 was held by the SLS AMG that was created in March 2013.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R is powered by a 4.0 litre V8 engine that develops 585 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 317 kph. The engine is mated to a seven speed dual clutch automatic gearbox with reworked ratios. AMG Dynamic Select offers three driving modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. The AMG GT R is the first AMG model to get rear wheel steering.

Mercedes-Benz India will be launching the AMG GT R in India on August 21, 2017.
