Mercedes has revealed the G-Class facelift for international markets and changes to the SUV are more than just cosmetic.

The G500 gets the new 4 litre biturbo V8 petrol engine.  It is based on the new generation of Mercedes-AMG V8 engines that have already coaxed exceptional levels of performance out of the Mercedes-AMG GT and Mercedes-AMG C 63. It puts out 422 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. This propels the SUV from 0 to 100 kph in 5.9 seconds.

The AMG models also get an upgrade in power. The G63 now puts out 571 horses with 760 Nm torque while the G65 with a V12 engine produces 630 horses and massive 1000 Nm torque. The G 350 d, G 500 and AMG G 63 are equipped with an ECO start/stop function for better fuel efficiency.

Looks wise the facelift G-Class gets restyled bumpers and standard AMG body coloured flared wheel arches. The G350d now gets 18 inch alloys as standard. On the inside, the G 350 d and G 500 feature an  instrument cluster in two-tube look with 11.4 cm multifunction display and redesigned pointers and dials. The two AMG models also sport a redesigned instrument cluster.

Mercedes is also introducing the new EDITION 463 special model which adds a sporty look and stance to the facelifted G-Class. The interior sports a two-tone instrument panel, two-tone seats in high-quality designo leather with side bolsters in carbon-look leather and contrasting topstitching, seat and door centre panels in a diamond design, carbon-fibre trim and door pulls in nappa leather. On the exterior it gets a stainless steel underguard, AMG sport stripes along the sides, a protective-strip insert with black aluminum look and 21 inch forged wheels.

Mercedes already sells the G63 AMG in India. It remains to be seen if the facelift model reaches our shores this year.
