The Mercedes GLA220d has been launched at a price of Rs. 38.51 lakh ex showroom Pune. Called the ‘Activity Edition’, it gets more equipment apart from an upgrade in power.
The GLA 220d uses the same 2.1 litre diesel engine seen in the standard GLA crossover but now comes with 170 horsepower (34 hp more) and 350 Nm torque (50 Nm more). It goes from 0 to 100 kph in 7.7 seconds. It comes with Mercedes’ 4Matic all wheel drive system. It gets the Off-Road package as standard.
On the exterior, the Mercedes GLA220d gets dual tone 18 inch 10 spoke alloys wheels, black decals on the door and chrome accents on the body. It also gets a new colour option – Mountain Grey. An Activity Edition badge is placed on the front fender. 
On the interior, there is 8 inch screen for the COMMAND infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, keyless go, rain sensing wipers, EASY PACK tail gate, 12v socket in the boot, rear seat backrest adjust by 15 degrees and Activity Edition Floor mats and additional 60 litres of boot space.
Safety features include six airbags, Adaptive Braking with Hold function, ESP, Curve Dynamic Assist, Attention Assist, Reverse Camera with guidelines, etc.
The Mercedes GLA model line up for Indi now comprises of the GLA200 petrol and diesel, GLA220d and the range topping AMG GLA45.
The Mercedes GLA220d rivals the BMW X5, Volvo V40 and the Audi Q3 in the Indian market.
