The new Mercedes X-Class pickup has been officially unveiled. This is the first pickup from the German luxury car maker. On the exterior, the Mercedes X-Class gets a prominent front grille with two horizontal slats and a large three pointed star logo in the centre. There are LED infused headlamps and the aggressively styled front bumper gets black and silver finish with fog lamps on either side. The pick up gets plastic body cladding along with flared wheel arches and vertical tail lamps at the rear. The rear bumper comes with an integrated step but that can be removed to open the tailgate to a full 180 degrees.There will be three variants on offer: A utilitarian  X-Class Pure, a regular X-Class Progressive, and a lifestyle variant called the X-Class Power.

On the interior, the X-Class gets a multi function steering wheel and a leather wrapped dashboard. There is an 8.4 inch screen for the infotainment system and circular AC vents.The Mercedes X-Class will be offered with two four cylinder diesel engines at launch. The  X220d  will get a 2.3 litre turbo-diesel that produces 163 horsepower, while the X250d will have a bi turbo-diesel developing 190 horsepower. An X200 making 165 horses and an X350d sporting a V6 engine and developing 258 horses and 550 Nm is expected later. The engines will come mated to either a six speed manual or 7 speed automatic gearbox. Rear wheel drive is standard and all wheel drive will also be offered. Standard ground clearance is 202 mm which can be increased to 222 mm via the optional off-road suspension. The X-Class has a payload capacity of 1.1 tonnes and a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes.
