The second generation Audi R8 will be launched in India in early 2016.

The new car is based on a new space frame structure that weighs 200 kg. While the body is primarily made of aluminum, it does come with a lot of carbon fibre reinforced plastic that help in weight reduction and rigidity of the body shell. The new R8 has the same dimensions of its predecessor.

Styling wise, it looks similar to the older It gets a new grille and LED head lamps while Audi will also offer laser headlights that use a laser-guided spot lamp for the high beams. It will also get dynamic tuen signals.

Power comes from an upgraded version of the 5.2 litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that is shared with the Lamborghini Huracan. In standard form the engine puts out 532 bhp while the top of the line Plus variant puts out 601 bhp. The motor is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox which has been worked on to adopt an auto start stop function. The new R8 also gets cylinder on demand where half the engine cylinders automatically shut off when not needed.
