The next generation Maruti Swift is all set to launch in India and will be officially revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo. The new Swift has now been spotted on Indian roads during the shoot of a tv commercial.

The new Swift gets an all new design with all new headlamps and tail lamps while retaining the classic design cues of the previous gen car. Of course it shares similarities with the Dzire that was launched this year. The new Swift is built on the Balrno platform and will 10 to 15 percent lighter than before.

Power will come from the tried and tested 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel engine as before. However the 1.3 diesel motors is expected to be tuned for more power. In a first, the Swift will come with the option of an automatic gearbox in both, the petrol and the diesel variants. The new Swift could get Maruti’s new 1.5 litre diesel engine at a later stage along with the 1.0 litre petrol Boosterjet engine from the Baleno RS.

The interior is also all new. There will be a new dashboard that is more upmarket and sportier than the current car. The car is expected to come with a touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link and paddle shifters on the steering wheel. There is more space in the cabin and boot space has increased from 200 to 254 litres.
