IMG_0937Skoda has launched the third generation Superb in India at a starting price of Rs. 22.68 ex showroom Mumbai. It is available in two variants: Style and Laurin & Klement (L&K).

The new Superb is based on the MQB platform which makes the new car lighter by 70 kg. It also has a longer wheelbase than the earlier car. It comes with bi-xenon headlamps with AFS DRLs, C-shape LED tail lamps with exhaust integrated in the rear bumper making it invisible to the naked eye. A sharp line runs across the side from the headlamp to the tail lamp. The new Superb gets 17 inch alloy wheels as standard.IMG_0914 IMG_0912The cabin has more space than the outgoing model. It gets 157 mm of leg room and 980 mm head room. The company claims this is more than any other model in its class. Its gets 625 litres of standard boot space without the rear seats folded. Other features include 12 way electrical adjust front seats, 6.5 inch touch screen infotainment system with Smart Link (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), three zone climate control, three colour ambient lighting, umbrella in both the front doors, 610 W Canton sound system with 12 speakers and a panoramic sunroof.IMG_0904 IMG_0923

The new Skoda Superb comes with the option of a 1.8 litre TSI and a 2.0 TDI diesel engine. The petrol motor makes 178 bhp while the diesel engine develops 175 bhp of power. The diesel engine is mated to a 6 speed DSG automatic gearbox. The petrol engine comes with a six speed manual or a 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox. Paddle shifters are included in the automatic variant.

Safety features on the new Skoda Superb include eight airbags, ESP, Multi Collision Brake, three point seat belts and Driver Fatigue Alert function.
