Volvo has revealed details on the new upcoming small SUV, the XC40. The Volvo XC40 will be revealed at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.

Volvo XC40 engine details

The XC40 will be the first car to be based on the new Compact Modular Architecture platform. It is expected to be powered with petrol and diesel engines including a new 1.5 litre three cylinder petrol unit derived from Volvo’s 2.0 litre four cylinder motor. A hybrid model with 180 horses is also expected mated to a seven speed auto box driving the front wheels. The hybrid will have an all electric range of 48 kms.

The Volvo XC40 will be available in three model trims: Momentum, R-Design and Inscription. Volvo says the Momentum trim level is the most fashion-oriented of the line-up, with vivid exterior colour combinations, while the R-Design and Inscription trim levels reflect a more dynamic and premium feel.

The Volvo XC40 will rival the Mercedes GLA, BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the Jaguar F-Pace.
