Japanese car maker Nissan has announced massive price cuts for the Sunny saloon. Prices now start at Rs. 6.99 lakh ex showroom Delhi for the base petrol model. The petrol CVT model now comes only in the top end XV trim level at a price of Rs. 8.99 lakh. This makes it almost Rs. 2 lakh cheaper than before. Nissan has discontinued the mid XL variant of the Sunny CVT.

Nissan says that local production of the Sunny at the Oragadam Plant in Chennai has helped reduce costs and the car maker is passing on the benefits to the customer. The new priicing of the Sunny puts it directly in the sub four metre compact sedan space.

Mechanically the Sunny remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine and a 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine.
