Skoda Kodiaq Interior

The cabin is familiar Skoda territory. That translates to top notch quality of materials and great fit and finish. There are dual tone interiors featuring a layered dashboard. There is a thick of trim slab that runs on the dash that you don’t see in other Skodas. There are two gloveboxes too, one of which has the cooling feature. The steering wheel, switch gear, stalks are typical Skoda and feel nice to touch. The 8.0 inch touch screen infotainment system is the same that you see in the updated Octavia and comes loaded with features including 10 colour ambient lighting, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Navigation. There is a graphics display to show how economically you are driving and the 10 speaker Canton sound system is pleasing to the ears.

The front seats are large and though they are a bit on the firm side, they offer good comfort. They feature electric adjust too. The rear seats are nice too and can be slid forward and backward. Thanks to the Kodiaq’s three zone climate control, the middle row gets its own unit. The middle row folds down in a 40:20:40 split but does not tumble down completely. Access to the third row of seats is tight. These seats are best suited to children as adults would have to sit flat with their knees pointing to the air. Of course some space can be liberated by sliding the middle seat a bit forward but still, it would be good for average sized adults for short trips only. Don’t even think of getting a six footer in there. The Kodiaq is best called a 5+2 seater, and not a full 7 seater SUV.

The Kodiaq comes with a spacious boot. It has a capacity of 270 litres with all rows up, 630 litres with the last row folded, going up to 2005 litres with the second row of seats down. The parcel shelf can be folded into a cubby hole in the boot floor when not needed too. The tail gate is electronically operated and can opened by waving your foot under the boot.

There are lots of other goodies on the Kodiaq. You get large panoramic sunroof which adds to the airiness of the cabin.  A special feature is the Power Nap package where you get two blankets attached to the front seat headrests while the middle row headrests get retractable wings preventing your head to move on either side when you are taking a nap. Additionally, you get two umbrellas in the front doors, a small detachable magnetic flash light that you can stick to the body of the car when changing a tyre and a cute small dustbin in the front door pocket. What we most love though is the slim rubber door protectors that pop out when you open a door, protecting the edges and slip back in when you close it. Very clever indeed.
