The Tata Harrier has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs 12.69 lakh ex showroom. It will come in four variants: XE, XM, XT and XZ.

The Tata Harrier was first shown as the H5X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo and is built on a Land Rover derived D8 platform. It is engineered on Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced(OMEGA) Architecture and is the first vehicle to feature the IMPACT 2.0 design language. It measures 4,598 mm in length, 1,894 mm in width, 1,706 mm in height and has a 2,741mm long wheelbase. Ground clearance stands at 205 mm.

The Tata Harrier comes with a 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel engine that develops 140 horsepower and comes mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox that powers the front wheels. It features a Land Rover style Terrain Response controller with multiple modes: Normal, Wet and Rough. It also comes with Tata Multi Drive 2.0 that features Eco, City and sport driving modes. An automatic gearbox is expected later.

Features on the Tata Harrier include an 8.8 inch touch screen infotainment system and a 7.0 inch display in the instrument cluster. Other goodies also include a JBL sound system, 17 inch alloy wheels, puddle lamps etc. The Tata Harrier misses out on a sunroof.

Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, hill-hold and hill descent control, a roll-over mitigation system and hydraulic brake assist and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

The Harrier comes in five exterior paint options – Calisto Copper, Thermisto Gold, Ariel Silver, Telesto Grey and Orcus White.

Rivals of the Tata Harrier include the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and the Mahindra XUV500.
