Tesla has also announced that it will take orders for the car from India as well. Elon Musk, the Tesla founder and CEO mentioned in a tweet that online bookings  for the Model 3 would commence in countries such as India, Brazil, South Africa, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore and Ireland.tesla-model-3-unveiling (1) tesla-model-3-unveiling (2)

The Tesla Model 3 is the fourth car in the company’s model range of electric cars. It will go into production in 2017 and will come with a sticker price of 35,000 USD which is approx Rs. 23 lakh. Expect India prices to be double of that thanks to our customs duties and taxes.

The new Tesla Model 3 can go from 0 to 96 kph in less than six seconds in its most basic form and has a range of 402 km from a single battery charge. The absence of a conventional engine at the front has freed up space inside the cabin as well. The car also gets a single pane panoramic sunroof. tesla-model-3-unveiling (3) tesla-model-3-unveiling (4)

The Tesla Model 3 gets two boot compartments as also seen in the Model S, one at the front and the other at the back. The Model 3 also gets all auto pilot features and a tablet screen mounted on the dashboard for the infotainment system.

Tesla Motors has revealed that it wants to build 500,000 batteries a year to cope with the demand for the Model 3. Their new Gigafactory in Nevada will make more lithium-ion batteries than all the other lithium-ion production combined.

We hope that the Tesla Model 3 gets incentives that are offered on electric cars once it reaches Indian shores. This would help the Model 3 come with a competitive price tag and encourage more buyers in India.
