Very few automobiles have a brand loyalty the way the Toyota Innova has. Ever since the first gen Innova came to India in 2004, it has been the choice for a people mover for almost everyone out there. For that matter, I too am all smiles when my airport pick up and drop vehicle is an Innova. Tucked into the captain seat in the middle row, even traffic jams are not a bother when you are chauffeured around in one of these.  Toyota launched the new generation Innova Crysta last year which took over from where the older car left off. The new Crysta is leap years ahead in terms of fit and finish, quality, looks and features. As expected it has been a runaway hit and to celebrate it’s first anniversary in India, Toyota has brought out a special edition model called the Innova Touring Sport. We spent some time with it to find out what the Touring Sport badge adds to the already successful Innova Crysta recipe.

Toyota Innova Touring Sport Exterior

Right off the block, the first thing that strikes you is the Wildfire Red paint shade. It is so eye catching that I was surprised the way it turned heads on the road including some ‘naya model hai kya?’ questions. You can get the Touring Sport in another White Pearl Crystal Shine as well. The large front grille comes finished in matt black and gets chrome trims making it look classy. There are smoked headlamps that also get chrome treatment as do the fog lamp housings in the front bumper. There’s a front lip spoiler in matt black again with chrome trims. Toyota has taken Indian’s  love for chrome rather seriously. There are black side skirts along with black cladding on the wheel arches. The Innova Touring Sport gets a set of matt black 16 inch alloy wheels instead of 17 inchers. At the rear, there is a black garnish trim that runs between the tail lights. The regular Innova Crysta gets this in chrome. The rear bumper gets a lip spoiler as well with chrome elements.  A prominent Touring Sport badge finds place on the right side of boot. Also notice the missing Crysta badging on this special edition.
