Volvo launched the new XC90 in India on 12th May 2015. However dealers had already started taking pre bookings for the SUV from the first week of May itself. Deliveries are slated  to begin in September, but going by the enquires, the potential sales for the XC90 is around 450 to 500 units. But Volvo plans to import only 350 units to India this year.

Speaking to Autocar India magazine, Tomas Ernberg, managing director, Volvo Auto India said ” Next year, however, India will get around 1,000 units of the XC90 SUV as the company aims to ramp up production to 90,000 units worldwide”. Volvo’s global production for the XC90 is currently 55,000 units of which 30,000 have already been sold, Ernberg added.

Volvo plans to increase its dealership and service centre presence to 22 by the end of this year. They currently have 14 showrooms and 15 workshops pan India.

The new XC90 is priced at Rs. 64.9 lakh for the Momentum trim and Rs. 77.9 lakh for the top end Inscription trim. All prices are ex showroom Mumbai without octroi.
