2018 Audi S5 Sportback Interior

The interior of the S5 is similar to what the new age Audis offer. It all starts by lifting the door handles to get in and those frameless doors have a character of their own. The dashboard is neatly laid out and what seems like one long air vent is actually not. The left passenger and two middle air vents are integrated in a seamless manner. The carbon fibre accents that feature on the dashboard and door pads are a sporty touch and the way they are integrated gives a wrap around feel to the dash. The switches and buttons have top notch finish. The three spoke steering wheel even though its not a flat bottom unit, feels nice to hold. The instrument cluster features a 12.3 inch screen with the Audi Virtual Cockpit and you can scroll through views via the View button on the steering wheel. Graphics on the Virtual Cockpit and the 7 inch MMI screen are crisp and easy to read. The large tachometer as the default with the S5 logo looks super cool. Other features include three zone climate control, electric sunroof, 8 airbags, electric tail gate and Android, Apple CarPlay bundled into the MMI. The centre console features the rotary knob for the MMI, the stubby gear lever and a nice key holder as well. The controls for the climate control are touch sensitive.

The S5 comes with a choice of upholstery options and our test car came finished in red quilted leather. The front sports seats get the S logo and are very comfortable and offer excellent support. The fantastic side bolstering snugs you in place as well. They get 8 way electric adjust along with memory function. The rear seats have good contours and two occupants will feel comfortable. The protruding rear AC vents wont be welcoming for a third passenger. Leg room is in abundance, but headroom is compromised due the sloping roof. The backseat of the S5 is definitely not your space if you are 6ft tall or above. Boot space at 480 litres is ample and the low loading lip makes it easy to use as well.
