Citroen C5 Aircross Interior

The Citroen theme carries on to the interior as well. The cabin is finished in a shade of grey which I personally like. Those who are fans of two tone beige will shake their heads in disagreement. The dashboard is well laid out and I like how it flows with the contours of the AC vents. The cube design of the AC vents is also eye catching. There is a 12.3 inch digital cluster, and while the digital speedo is large and easy to read, the same can’t be said for the digital tachometer. It is really small and you have to make an effort to look at it. The steering wheel is very chunky and nice to hold. It is flat at the bottom and even at the top. The design of the gear lever is also very interesting and adds a very stylish touch. It’s location is strangely on the front passenger side, which gives it a left hand drive orientation. Same goes for the engine start/stop button. Ergonomically it just doesn’t feel right. The C5 Aircross gets an 8.0 touchscreen infotainment system which is easy to read. Most of the functions are operated by touch and there are very few physical buttons on the centre console. Quality of materials used in the cabin is good and there are lots of soft touch surfaces, brushed chrome bits and also nice contrast stitching at places. At the same time, some hard plastics could have been better like those on the door pads. There is no shortage of stowage with lots of cubby holes, pockets and spaces. Even the front central armrest can take in 1.5 litre bottles. The features list on the C5 Aircross includes keyless entry and go, dual zone climate control, Android Auto Apple Car Play, electric adjust for driver’s seat, auto headlamps and a 6 speaker sound system. The Shine variant adds LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof and hands free tailgate. However features like a wireless charging pad and ventilated seats are missing. There’s no connected car tech either. These are the features that are expected in the C5’s segment.

One of the main talking points of the C5 Aircross are the seats. And once you sit on them, you realize why Citroen has been talking a lot about them and emphasizing comfort. You feel like you are sitting on a sofa and I haven’t experienced a more comfortable car seat in recent times. When you first sit, there is a comfortable softness but as you sink in further, the high density foam deeper inside the seat offers incredible levels of cushioning and support. I loved the broadness of the front seats and I didn’t feel a wee bit tired after driving all day. Things are equally comfy at the rear as well. There are three individual seats of equal width and all of them can be reclined and can slide up to 150 mm. The flat floor means that even the middle passenger won’t feel short changed for space. Head room is more than adequate but the legroom could have been better. Every seat gets an adjustable headrest and three point seatbelts. But because of the three individual seats, you miss out on an arm rest. The C5 Aircross has a sizeable boot at 580 litres. Move the rear seats forward and that goes up to 720 litres. Want more? The rear seats fold down flat to give you a total of 1630 litres of cargo space.
