Honda has announced a price hike for the Honda City, BR-V and the CR-V after the additional GST cess that was levied on mid-size cars and SUVs.

Prices of the petrol City have gone up in the range of Rs 7,003 to Rs 18,713, variant wise, and the diesel City from Rs 14,951 to Rs 18,791. The petrol BR-V prices have risen by Rs 12,490 to Rs 16,994 and diesel variant prices have increased by Rs 15,631 to Rs 18,242.

The CR-V gets the highest price hike among the three models and the hike is in the range of Rs 75,304 to Rs 89,069.

The the additional cess on mid-size cars has been raised by 2 percent, on luxury cars by 5 percent and on SUVs by 7. Under the previous rate, large vehicles and SUVs attracted a cess of 15 percent over the flat rate of 28 percent.

Due the hike, car sales will surely be affected during the upcoming festive season, a time when generally sales see a big spike.
