Kia Sonet Interior

Step inside the Sonet and you are welcomed by a high quality cabin. You get the choice of a dual tone or full black with red stitching interior. The GT Line that we drove comes with the latter. The cabin reeks of high quality materials, even though there are some hard plastics around. The flat bottom steering wheel with red stitching feels nice to hold and the fit and finish on the steering mounted controls is top class too. The horn is European style dual tone and just the one we all love. You wont be looking around for aftermarket options.  I’m not too fond of the 4.2 inch digital instrument cluster though, I’m just too old school maybe and I prefer my dials and needles. The large 10.25 inch touch screen taken from the Seltos, sits in the centre. Its gets split screen function along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Graphics are crisp and the system is very slick to use. The vertical AC vents get faux carbon fibre surrounds and ergonomically, everything falls at hand easily.

The Sonet probably has the most extensive feature list in the segment. Just look at the equipment list on offer. You get an electric sunroof, auto climate control, wireless charging, 7 speaker BOSE sound system, perfume dispenser, air purifier with virus protection, 57 UVO connected car features, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, remote start even for the manual and mood lighting. It also features AI voice command that you can use to  wake up the system by saying ‘Hello Kia’. The best part is it recognizes some regular phrases used in daily life. You can use it for functions like setting the temperature or even lowering the windows or even getting the cricket score, finding out about the weather etc. The UVO Connect features can be accessed via smartphone or a smart watch and gets a 3 year free subscription.

The front seats are large, comfortable and also ventilated. A must have feature considering how hot our summers get. The rear feels cramped though. The seat itself offers good comfort but space is at a premium. Under thigh support could have been better ,and three passengers will be a tight fit. Headroom is adequate for medium height people. The rear passengers get cup holders in the arm rest. The cabin comes with a lot of storage spaces that includes 1 litre bottle holders, umbrella holders with drain holes along with cup and cellphone holders at the front and rear. The boot is spacious and with a capacity of 392 litres, it is the largest in the segment.
