Nissan Magnite Interior

Step into the interior and you find a well laid out cabin. The centre console is slightly tilted towards the driver which we like.  The Lamborghini Urus inspired hexagonal shaped AC Vents give a sporty look and the 7-inch digital instrument cluster is easy to read. It also includes a tyre pressure monitor. All this can be controlled with buttons on the steering wheel. The dashboard however has hard plastics all around and the door locks on the inside look and feel straight out of the 90s. We also encountered rattles during the drive and this from a new car driven just a few hundred kms. Clearly Nissan has some work to do there.  The fabric on the door pads is a nice touch though. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is slick and comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. The glovebox is massive and the leather wrapped steering wheel is also well put together.  It can be adjusted only for height. Other features include cruise control, 360 degree camera,  auto climate control and push button start. What it misses out on is a sunroof, auto dimming IRVM and height adjustable seat belts. Nissan is also offering a Tech Pack with the Magnite as an option. This adds a wireless phone charger, Air Purifier, puddle lamps, ambient lighting, LED scuff plates and high end JBL speakers. Nissan Connect that comprises of 50 connected car features along with smartwatch connectivity is also available on the turbo variants.

The Magnite offers a dead pedal in the CVT but we feel the brake and accelerator pedal are placed too close to each other. Someone with a big shoe size could have an issue. Also, considering it’s a CVT the brake pedal should have been larger in size as seen in other automatic transmission cars. Here it looks similar to the clutch pedal of a manual.

The front seats are well shaped and offer excellent support with adequate bolstering. The driver gets height adjust, however  it gets a little too tight to sneak your arm down there. Someone wearing a watch on the right arm will easily scratch the door pad or even the watch.  The central arm rest is a good addition but it cant be adjusted nor does it open. The front headrests seem like they are integrated with the seat but in fact are adjustable. The rear is also a nice place to be in. The doors open wide and getting in and out is easy. There is sufficient headroom and legroom and under thigh support is good too. A lower floor hump means three adults can sit on the rear bench, though the narrow width of  the car may make it bit of a squeeze.  The rear passengers get adjustable head rests, AC vents, a 12 V charging socket and cup holders along with a smartphone holder in the arm rest.

At 336 litres, the Magnite offers decent boot space; that goes up to 690 litres when the 60:40 split rear seat is dropped. The loading lip however is a little high and thus makes it difficult to load heavy luggage.
