The 2016 Volvo S90 has been launched in India at a price of Rs 53.5 lakh ex showroom Mumbai. The S90 will be sold as a fully imported CBU.
The Volvo S90 us powered by the D4 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel motor that develops 190 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. An eight speed automatic gearbox drives the front wheels. Volvo will introduce the more powerful D5 variant with 235 horsepower in 2017. The S90 is available in a single fully loaded Inscription variant only.
The S90 is built on the SPA platform that it shares with the XC90 SUV. On the exterior it features LED headlamps with Thor Hammer day time running lamps. There is a front grille inspired by the classic P1800 from the yesteryears. The rear features C shaped LED tail lamps along with twin exhausts. The S90 comes with 18 inch alloy wheels and Pirelli tyres that are specifically made only for the S90.
The Volvo S90 comes loaded with a host of features. These include a 9 inch touch screen for the Sensus infotainment system, front seats with electric adjust, memory function and ventilation, four zone climate control, nappa leather upholstery, hands free tail gate, 19 speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, HUD display, and air suspension.
Safety features include driver and co-passenger airbags, knee airbag, curtain airbags, Whiplash protection, Emergency Brake Assist and Pre-tensioners for the front and rear and Lane Keeping Aid. Run Off-Road protection is also standard.
The 2016 Volvo S90 rivals the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Jaguar XF in the Indian market.
