The Mahindra XUV500 has been in the Indian market since 2011. The SUV got an update in 2015 with additional features and some cosmetic changes.

Mahindra has now begun road testing the 2018 XUV500 that is expected to launch in the coming months. The new model is expected to come with restyled front and rear bumpers, a new front grille and new design alloy wheels.

The biggest change that the 2018 XUV500 will see is that under the hood. Mahindra is working on the current 2.2 litre diesel engine and the reworked version will develop 170 horsepower. Howver Mahindra willl be launching a G9 petrol variant with a 2.2 litre petrol engine and six speed automatic gearbox prior to the new refreshed model.

Mahindra is looking to take on the competition from the Jeep Compass, Tata Hexa and the Renault Captur will this update.
