The Mercedes-Benz GLC has enjoyed a great run in India so far. Launched in India in 2016, it went into local production soon after, and has sold over 7,000 units till date. SUVs form a major chunk of Mercedes-Benz sales, so that isn’t surprising that the GLC became a best seller for the car maker. With BMW getting in the new X3 and Audi launching the updated Q5, a refresh for the GLC was expected. And here it is, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC. Though it is a facelift, changes are more than skin deep. We drove it in and around Bengaluru to bring you first impressions of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC220d 4Matic.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC220d Exterior

The changes on the exterior are immediately apparent when you look at the face of the new GLC. It gets a new front grille with twin chrome slats, the headlamps get an update with LED units and new design signature LED daytime running lamps that outline the headlamp units. The restyled front bumper gets a faux chrome skid plate. On the side, the silhouette remains largely unchanged but you get new 19 inch alloy wheels that have a very likeable design. The aluminium finish side steps are a nice touch and aid Ingress and egress. The rear too remains largely unchanged but the LED tail lamps get new design elements giving them a very GLSish appearance. The look swell at night especially. A roof spoiler and a chrome diffuse complete the the rear end. Overall, the updates have made the GLC look more classy rather than aggressive.
