Ducati Monster Plus Performance & Tech

The Ducati Monster gets the new 937cc L-twin liquid cooled engine. It shares it’s motor with its siblings, the Hypermotard, The Multistrada 950S and the Super Sport. The motor has a power output of 111HP @ 9,250rpm with torque figures of 93Nm @ 6,500rm. Twist the throttle and you feel the surge in power. The throttle response is fantastic and the mid-range power is superb. The engine feels clunky at 1500rom-2000rpm and has vibrations, like all the L-twin motors. You can’t really put it into 6th gear and cruise at 40-50kmph unlike a 4 cylinder motorcycle. A couple of downshifts and you are ready to fly. The bike rides brilliantly above 3-4k rpm and the vibrations aren’t felt that much. The only issue I faced was the heat emitted from the engine, in traffic.

Tech wise, the bike is pretty much loaded, especially in its segment.. It has 3 riding modes, two power modes, cornering ABS, Traction Control, Wheelie Control, a quick shifter and the blipper as well. The riding aids have multiple level and are very easy to use through the 4.3” TFT screen. I must say that the riding aides work fantastically well.

Ducati Monster Plus Verdict

For a price of Rs 11,82,000/- ex showroom for the Monster Red and Rs 12,06,000/- ex showroom for the Monster Plus Red, the Ducati Monster comes at a premium. But for the amount of tech that it offers, it is definitely one of the Middleweights that one should consider, even if you are a first time buyer. It is a beautiful everyday street machine and lives up to its ‘Monster’ name. Would I consider buying one as a second bike in my garage? Hell Yes!!
