Audi and Porsche are apparently developing a new family of V6 and V8 engines throught a joint engineering programme. These new motors will replace the current V6s and V8s seen in current models of the brands and other vehicles of the Volkswagen Group.

The engine will feature a common architecture with a displacement of 500 cc per cylinder. Engine displacement will 3.0 litre for the V6 and 4.0 litre for the V8. The engines are initially expected to come with gas driven turbo chargers and there is a possibility of the introduction of electric turbos later.

The new engines are codenamed KoVoMo internally and will power Porsche, Audi, Benltey, Volkswagen and probably Lamborghini models as well
