Ferrari has officially revealed the new hardcore version of the 488 GTB and its called the 488 Pista. The new car is the successor to the epic 458 Speciale.

The 488 Pista uses technology from its race cars, the 488 GTE and the 488 Challenge. This includes aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, weight saving and the engine. It weight 90kg less than a standard 488 GTB.

The 488 Pista is powered by Ferrari’s 3.9 litre twin turbo V8 engine that is also seen in the 488 GTB. The engine has been retuned to now develop 710 horsepower at 8000 rpm and 770 Nm of maximum torque coming up at 3000 rpm. Ferrari says this is their most powerful V8 engine in the car maker’s history. It does the 0 to 100 kph sprint in 2.85 seconds and has a top speed of more 340 kph.

Coming to the tech, the 488 Pista features an F1-inspired S-Duct up front. The front diffusers feature a ramp angle similar to the 488 GTE for increased downforce. The rear spoiler is also higher and longer. This gives the Pista 20% increase in downforce over the 488 GTB. Other features include version 6 of the Side-Slip Angle Control system that incorporates E-Diff3, F1-Trac, the magnetorheological suspension (SCM) and, for the first time ever, the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer. The FDE features a world-first: it uses Ferrari software to adjust the brake pressure at the callipers.

On the interior, the 488 gets racing seats with four point seat belts. The seats are finished in Alcantara and the cabin features lots of carbon fibre trims that aid in weight saving.

The Ferrari 488 Pista will make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
