Kia Carnival Interior

The exterior size does indeed translate into a roomy interior. The cabin feels very airy thanks to the large windshield that also offers a great view of the road ahead. The cabin is finished in two tone black and beige and this is the only option available. The dashboard doesn’t have a flashy design but is neat and nicely laid out. The fit and finish of the material feels very European and ergonomically everything falls at hand easily. The twin pod instrument cluster is easy to read and the steering wheel wrapped in leather feels nice to hold. There are two glove boxes and there is a lot of space between the front seats as well. The front seats themselves are comfortable and the Limousine variant gets Nappa leather upholstery. The driver’s seat also gets 10 way power adjust and cooling function.

Getting into the rear is via power sliding rear doors. They can operated via a button on the door handles, the key fob and overhead controls on the inside. They can also be closed by the button on the B pillar. Grab handles on the B pillar aid in getting in. The VIP rear seats on this Limousine variant are plush, get reclining back rest and separate arms rests. They also get extendable leg rests. There are also a pair of 10.1 inch touchscreens as part of the rear entertainment package. There is a USB outlet and even a 220 V 2 pin laptop charger. With so many features, it is surprising foldable trays are missing in the rear. That would be perfect for those who want to work on the go.

To access the third row in the Limousine, you can slide the middle down seats sideways to get behind. 7and 8 seat models in Premium and 7seat models in Prestige get stand up folding seats, where they fold upright, where you can literally walk into the rear rows. The third row on the Limousine can also slide forward and backward for more luggage space. With all the seats folded you can get a whopping 2,700 litres of cargo area. Even with all three rows up, there is enough boot space. The space saver spare wheel is mounted under the body at the B-Pillar.

Coming to the features, the Kia Carnival gets three zone climate control with AC vents at all rows. The AC controls for the second row (third zone) is on the right side, oriented for the left hand drive markets. The climate control works well and cools the cabin efficiently. There is an 8 speaker Harman Kardon sound system, air purifier, dual sunroof, 8 inch touch screen infotainment with navigation featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reversing camera, wireless charging for smart phones and electronic parking brake.

The Carnival also gets the UVO -Sim based connected car tech with 37 connected features. What’s more is that apart from the smartphone app, you can also control some basic features like lock/ unlock, engine start and pre cooling the car by using a smart watch app. All it takes is a few taps on the wrist. Pretty cool eh…
