Kia Motors has written quite the success story when it comes to their innings in India. They have been right up there with choosing the right products for our shores too. The Seltos has had a great run so far and the Carnival opened up a new segment for buyers. The fact that they sold 1 lakh cars within just 11 months of making a debut in the country speaks a lot. And now we have the Kia Sonet. The Sonet is Kia’s all new model that will compete in the fierce compact SUV segment in India. Like the Seltos, the Sonet made its global debut in India and is a ‘Made in India’ product for ours and markets around the world. So will the Sonet make another hit for Kia? Read on to find out.

Kia Sonet Exterior

The Kia Sonet shares its platform with the Hyundai Venue, and was first shown in concept form at the Auto Expo 2020 earlier this year, followed by a preview of the production car last month. The Sonet looks pretty much familiar to the concept except for the flush door handles and few other elements. The Sonet will be available in Tech Line and GT Line trim levels just like the Seltos. Each trim will have three sub variants: HTE / GTE, HTK / GTK and HTX /GTX. For this drive we got to drive the GT Line trims. You get the signature Tiger Nose grille upfront with red accents and the lower edge finished in chrome. The LED headlamps with signature heartbeat daytime running lamps look classy and are flanked by an aggressively styled front bumper with integrated fog lamps and a faux skid plate. The bonnet has a bulge that gives it a muscular stance. On the side, there is black cladding for the wheel arches and cladding running across the bottom as well. The door also gets black cladding with red accents on the GT Line trim. The 16 inch alloys look sharp and get red brake calipers. There are roof rails and the C pillar ends with a black slab that merges with the tailgate. This seemed a bit out of place to me. The rear features Heartbeat LED tail lamps connected by a reflector strip, rear spoiler, black cladding for the bumper and a faux skid plate. The Sonet comes in 11 exterior colours that includes 3 dual tone options.
