Almost three months since its launch, more than 26,000 bookings have been made for the new XUV300, Mahindra has reported. They added that around 70% of the bookings are being made for the top of the line variant, and that, petrol variants account for a sizeable chunk of the overall sales figures too.

The XUV300 has attained a considerable foothold in the compact SUV segment, given that 13,000 bookings were made within the first month of the launch itself. By April, it had already become the second most selling compact SUV after the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

The XUV300 comes in both petrol and diesel options, offered across a range of four variants. The 1.5-litre diesel engine makes 117 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre petrol engine makes 110 hp and 200 Nm of torque. As of now, both motors come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, but we expect to see a diesel AMT soon.

The car is loaded with many segment-topping features such as front parking sensors, all wheel disc brakes, heated wing mirrors and dual-zone climate control, amongst others.

The XUV300 starts at Rs.7.90 lakh for the base spec and goes up to Rs.11.90 lakh for the top of the line variant. It stands against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon and the Honda WR-V in the Indian market.
